Travel to school

We are located at Rawson Ave, NSW 2232 Loftus.
Our driveway is two lanes wide.
Please keep left when approaching the school.
Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in allocated parking spaces
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school or in the drive way. Please use the pick-up/drop-off bay to turn around.
Morning drop-off & Afternoon pick-up
At Cook School, our drop-off and pick-up process is designed to keep students calm and safe during busy times.
Student arrival is from 8:55am to 9:15am. Before arrival time, vehicles may line up on the left side of the driveway (Close to black fence line). Any late arrivals must report to the office to sign in for the day.
Student departure is 2:35pm. Before departure time, vehicles may queue along the left side of the driveway (towards school).
Note: When queued on the driveway, drivers must stay with their vehicle at all times.

Morning
The driveway controller will direct vehicles to the drop-off bay at 8:55am.
Afternoon
At departure time, vehicles will be directed to the pick-up bay by the driveway controller.
Drop-off bay
Morning
Students exit their vehicles and staff will welcome them, mark them off the roll and collect communication devices.
Afternoon
Staff will radio for students when their pick-up has arrived.
School gate
Morning
Students are guided through the school gate and accompanied to their classrooms by a staff member.
Afternoon
Students will be accompanied from the school gate to their vehicles by a staff member. Vehicles will be allowed to leave school grounds at 2:35pm
Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP)
Students attending Cook School may be eligible to access the NSW Department of Education's Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP).

How to apply:
1/ Parents/carers complete Part A of the application form (link provided below) and return it to the school office.
2/ The school will complete Part B and submit the application to ASTP on behalf of parents/carers.
ASTP will notify parents/carers of the outcome once the assessment process is complete.
Please allow at least two weeks for the application to be processed.

To help ensure the service operates smoothly and safely, please:
- Be ready for pick-up and drop-off at the scheduled times
- Ensure any travel equipment needed, such as harnesses, wheelchairs or seat supports, is fitted and ready to use
- Notify the school office as soon as possible if travel arrangements change
- Support your child to understand safe travel routines and follow directions from drivers and staff
